Ad copy lengthQuestion How long should the copy be for an ad or direct marketing piece?
Answer With few exceptions, the copy for an ad or marketing piece should be as brief as possible, while maintaining the focus on the offer or benefit. For higher-priced products, and/or technical offerings, longer copy may be necessary, but remember, you still must be able to keep the customer's attention.
Poorly written copy won't break through the clutter, will lead to a lost reader and your offer will be disregarded. If you can't write compelling copy, get some professional help. Before you worry about how much professional help will cost money, ask yourself how much a failed ad campaign will cost.
