Artificial intelligence (AI) definition

Artificial intelligence (AI) is any electronic and/or mechanical system that perceives its environment and takes actions in response to a stimulus, often demonstrating human intellectual characteristics of reasoning, learning meaning, generalizing or learning from past experiences.

AI technology is actually all around us. It's used, for example, by email providers to detect and filter spam email, by banks to police transactions for fraud, by cell phone companies for voice recognition, by search engines to help you find what you want on the Internet, and to help doctors diagnose and treat patients.

AI can do a lot and is a powerful tool, but so far, none is as powerful as the human mind.
