Balancing family and businessQuestion How do I find balance between my home and my home-based business?
Answer Work when there is work to be done, and schedule time to "power down." For example:
On weekends, during meal-time and other traditionally "non-work" times, shut down the computer, turn off the phone's ringer and leave the office. The family will appreciate that when you're with them, you're really "with" them. Celebrate business achievements with the family. It helps the family understand there's reward in supporting your efforts and they reap some benefit from being understanding of your need for cooperation. Finally, listen. If family members hint -- or outright complain -- that you're working too much, take heed. Time spent in the home office can get out of hand. Working from home has many benefits, but it's not easy to do it successfully. Remember, balance is important for everyone.
