Benchmark definition

Question
What is the definition of "benchmark"?
Answer
A benchmark a point of reference against which something may be compared. Businesses may, for example:

- Set internal benchmarks for quality or financial performance based on what peers in your industry are achieving

- Computer or machine performance may be established by running a benchmark program that gives comparative results.

Virtually any activity or process can be improved and measured by a benchmark approach.
