Building team trust

Trust within the team is developed over time as the relationships between members continue to strengthen. Keep the following in mind as you attempt to build trust within your team:

- Be honest.
- Have integrity. If you can't keep a promise or commitment, communicate that as soon as possible.
- Be consistent in what you say and do.
- Share information you have that will help others.
- Manage and work through conflicts rather than avoiding them.
- Accept inevitable mistakes. Offer support, encouragement and help the next time.

The best way to earn the trust of others is to trust them first.
