Writing a business plan will help you begin the due diligence, which includes determining how much capital you need, and prospective sources of funds. It also will help when preparing financial documentation. You will also need to write a loan or investment proposal.

There are state and Federal assistance programs for women in business including training, financing and preferential contracting. Do your homework with your state and local governments, Small Business Development Centers, Women's Business Centers, and other resources from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
