Cost of printingQuestion Is monitoring internal printing costs on our printers and copiers worth the effort?
Answer Absolutely. The average cost of a basic black and white page of text is five cents from an inkjet and four cents on a laser printer. That means that every ream (500 pages) is about $25 on an inkjet and $20 on a laser printer. Add an extra $5 to $10 a ream for higher grade paper. And finally, add the labor.
For a quick cost estimate, count the reams of paper you buy. Then multiply by $25. For a quick estimate of waste, look in your trash bin at the end of a day and multiply each page by $.05. The cost of printing on paper can get out of hand, can't it?
