Determining employee pay increases

Where do I get information to help decide how to give employees pay increases?
Data for making compensation decisions can come from formal or informal employee surveys, or from information about why employees leave your employ, as well as external salary surveys for your market area.

Many employers participate in an area salary survey, which are often conducted by the chamber of commerce, professional or industry associations, compensation consulting firms, business publications or certain government agencies.

There are various salary information sites on the Internet including information about various salary adjustment surveys. The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes various data on wages, wage adjustments, hours, and occupational earnings in great detail.
