Difficult clientsQuestion How should I handle a very difficult client?
Answer First, let's establish that there are two kinds of difficult clients:
1. Some clients are just quirky or high maintenance, not impossible. The interesting thing about this type is that if you work with their eccentricities and gain their confidence, you can be very successful with them and they can become your greatest cheerleader. 2. The second kind is the impossible one. This may sound strange, but you probably should fire these customers. Impossible clients rarely change and can cost you time and money that can be better spent on clients who appreciate you. You would never ask an impossible client for a referral or a reference, so their value is limited. Work to avoid difficult clients in the future by knowing precisely what your ideal customer looks like. Strive to attract good clients who value what you have to offer, communicate well and will invest the time, money, and resources to make the relationship successful.
