How can I network with a business that is kind of different and therefore, not easy to refer?
One referral technique for you would be to use speaking engagements.
In effect you’re getting a one-hour appointment with a few dozen businesspeople in your community all at the same time when you’re asked to make a presentation at various clubs and organizations.
With a little creativity, you can put together a presentation that will be informational, educational and even entertaining for these groups. Produce a letter about your presentation to give to people in your extended network so that they can easily refer you for speaking engagements.
The key is to go in with information and education; not a commercial for your business or your sales pitch. A great presentation sells you to the audience and can position you favorably for extended networking with the members and their contacts.
