Direct marketing objective

Question
What is the primary objective of a direct marketing campaign?
Answer
Direct marketing has essentially one goal: to get a prospect to take action, preferably to make an immediate sale. This is done by calling or mailing an offer directly to a prospect, whom you hope will do what you've suggested with your offer, such as send in a coupon, or place an order with money enclosed.
