E-learning is instructional content delivered over the Internet. Depending on the application, e-learning can:

- Allow the taking of classes anytime from anywhere
- Ensure that the material delivered is up-to-the-minute, since the content is served from a central location
- Serve training to employee’s desktops, making it an efficient use of resources, saving a company time and money while increasing employee skills
- Lower support costs by better educating customers
- Reduce training costs
