Employment skill test definitionQuestion What is skill testing for prospective employees?
Answer Skill tests measure a person's capability or skill in performing a particular job activity.
Examples of skill tests include a typing test for a typist, key board test for a data entry operator, a math test for a bookkeeper, or a measuring test for a material cutter. Personality profile tests may also be used to make sure the candidate's personality fits the requirements of the job. For example, a person testing low for stress tolerance is probably not a good candidate as a salesperson on full commission. In addition to using testing as part of the new-hire screening and selection process, employers may use testing to evaluate candidates for certain job assignments or for promotion to more responsible jobs.
