Family business descendents

Question
As the owner of a family business, should I transmit company shares to each of my descendents equally?
Answer
Before you extend ownership to children, you should ask yourself at least these three questions:

1. How will it affect the family's capability to make decisions and build informed consensus?

2. What strategies will need to be implemented so that future owners are prepared to exercise their privileges appropriately?

3. How will the distribution decision manifest with future generations?
