Finding business for saleQuestion How do I find an existing business that's for sale, so I don't have to start from scratch?
Answer Resources vary.
- The Internet has numerous "Business for Sale" sites. - Traditional business brokers represent owners in search of a buyer. A good business broker will usually know of most good businesses for sale in your area and will be able to help in making a good match for you. - If you have a particular type of business in mind in your local area, contact business owners directly by letter or phone, or by arranging a meeting in a private setting. When contacting the business owners you can explain that you are a qualified buyer who may be interested in purchasing their business. - Networking within organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce and service organizations can be effective. Lawyers, bankers, business consultants and accounting firms can be productive networking resources as well. You could also contact the brand-name/franchise companies to learn if any of their type of business are available now or may be coming available.
