Full disclosure in online auctionQuestion When providing merchandise for an online auction, should I disclose every defect, problem, fault and flaw that I know about?
Answer Yes, you should disclose anything you know about the merchandise you're offering on an online auction, since the buyer generally cannot physically inspect the item and must rely on your representations. This is probably the single most difficult question you will face as an online auction seller, and you will face it in virtually every auction.
It is an important element of online auctions, because from an ethical standpoint, it's the right thing to do. From a business standpoint, it makes buyers believe you're dealing in good faith and more likely to do business with you now and in the future. And from a representation standpoint, if you disclose everything, it will be difficult or impossible for any buyer to argue that you withheld something.
