Home-based business restrictionsQuestion Are there any legal restrictions to operating a business out of my home?
Answer It's estimated that as many as 20 percent of new small businesses are operated out of the owner's home. The only legal restrictions would be local municipal or county zoning laws, a deed restriction or homeowner's association prohibitions.
Check your neighborhood covenancts and local zoning laws for your options or restrictions in your area. Contact the local chamber of commerce to inquire about about local rules, though the chamber likely will not know about individual neighborhood restrictions.
