Home-based discountingQuestion Should I expect people to negotiate a lower price just because I am home-based?
Answer You may have to discount your services because you're new and you want to acquire customers, but don't do it just because you're home-based.
You may hear from a client that you should be cheaper because you don't have the same overhead as a traditional business. Your response to that comment should be, "You're not paying for my location, you're paying for my expertise." The cost of doing business is just one of the many factors in pricing. If your indirect expenses are less, you can take that in to consideration when setting your prices.
