Home office deductions

Question
Is taking the home-office deduction on my taxes a red flag to be audited by the IRS?
Answer
Deducting a home office used to be a red flag, but typically, not anymore. However, some accountants still advise against their clients taking the deduction for that reason.

Today, there are literally millions of taxpayers taking the home-office deduction. If you meet the criteria and keep proper records, there is no reason you should not take the legitimate home office deduction on your taxes. If your accountant still advises against it, consider finding another accountant.
