Answer Call the editor, reporter, producer or journalist to whom you sent the release. When you call the editor after you've sent your release, and briefly tell him or her about it, you increase your chances of it running by 50%.
Don't use the "I'm an advertiser" angle. Even though it may swing some weight, you can't really talk about it with the editorial staff. Newspapers at least claim to have a strict separation between advertising and editorial content.
