Introverts and networking

These three tips should help shy and introverted people get results when networking:

1. In advance of a networking event, think about how many new people you want to meet. It could be just one or two. Then, either target meeting them on your own or ask for introductions from people whom you know at the event.

2. Conserve and recharge your energy. Plan activities of more solitude both just before and after networking.

3. Shy people can have an advantage during networking events. Remember, the most successful networkers are the listeners, not the talkers. Make the most of your listening strength. Many people at networking events are extroverts. They love talking about themselves, so ask two or three questions and just listen.
