Jury duty leave definition

Question
What is required of an employer in the event an employee is called for jury duty?
Answer
There are federal government regulations and various state laws that define requirements for time away from work that must be granted in the event an employee is summoned by a state or federal court system to serve as a juror.

Most employers ask the employee to provide a copy of the juror summons to document the nature or validity of the absence. Whether to provide pay to an employee for a jury duty absence is at the discretion of the employer.
