How should I prepare to effectively network around the world?
Do your homework ahead of time and be sensitive to cultural differences. We all speak the language of referrals, and we all want to do business based on trust. This transcends many cultural differences.
Differences in culture, however, can become stumbling blocks to developing a strong relationship, which is, after all, the ultimate goal of networking. Therefore, it’s important to find things that bring everyone together.
As you network with others from different cultures and countries, don’t hesitate because you’re not sure how your actions will be interpreted. Ask how you will be expected to behave.
Networking basics are universal. By taking into account cultural nuances, your networking etiquette will be appreciated and rewarded.
