Non-profit Business Plan

Question
Is a non-profit, private foundation business plan different than one for a for-profit business?
Answer
Yes and no.

It's not different, in terms of the fundamental business planning components. The words may be different, but the pieces still need to be assembled, like development of management, staff, strategy, customer profile, etc.

All business plans are written for two broad purposes: as a management tool and to seek and acquire capital. Not-for-profit plans are not different when used as a management tool, but probably are when trying to attract stake-holders, contributors, etc.
