Patent infringement

Question
What happens when a patent is infringed?
Answer
Patent infringement is the unauthorized making, using, offering for sale, or selling of any patented invention within the United States or U.S. Territories, or the importation into the U.S. of any patented invention during the term of the patent.

Patent infringement is determined primarily by the language appearing in the claims of the patent. If there has been an infringement of your patent, you may sue for relief in the appropriate federal court. Such relief may be in the form of an injunction to prevent further infringement, or as an award of monetary damages.
