Pay-per-view definitionQuestion How does pay-per-view Internet advertising work?
Answer With pay-per-view, advertisers pay fees based on the number of visits (views) to the page containing the advertisement.
Working alone, or with an ad agency or the media outlet / search vehicle, an advertiser creates an ad banner (text, imaging and/or video) and coordinates with a search engine or other Internet marketing firm to target websites where the ads will be placed. The marketing firms work with website publishers to place the ads by hand selection, keyword search algorithm or some other syndication process. The advertiser may pay a set fee or bid for ad placement. Pay-per-view advertising is used primarily for brand building. Ad design, placement on the page and website selection are all critical to success of a pay per view program. There are so many ads on the Internet that it is easy for the consumer to become "ad blind" and not connect with the advertisement.
