Pop-ups

Use pop-up windows sparingly; they can be annoying and disruptive. Pop-ups can add relevant content that would otherwise clutter the page. Evaluate whether the benefit of using them (ad revenue, capturing email addresses, etc.) is worth potentially irritating visitors and prospects.

Use banners for advertising, not to highlight content on your site.
