Sales promotion definition

Question
What is a sales promotion?
Answer
A sales promotion is designed to get people to take action, especially when they were not initially interested in purchasing what you're currently offering. For example: a product demonstration, free samples, contests and sweepstakes, and point-of-sale programs that promote impulse purchases.
