Start-up legal issuesQuestion What legal aspects do I need to consider when starting a business?
Answer There are many legal issues that any new business owner must attend to, including, but not limited to these three:
- Any local and state business and professional licenses. - Zoning laws and other regulations that cover where you can operate your business. - What kind of legal entity you want your business to be, such as a corporation, LLC, sole proprietorship, etc. Your municipal, county and state offices, as well as your local chamber of commerce, can provide you with much of the legal information you need. Consult an attorney for advice specific to your enterprise, area, form of organization (corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship), and tax status.
