Starting a translation business
I speak several languages. How do I start a new translation service business?
Speaking a language is not the same as running a translating business. Start slow with a few customers and learn as much about the business as possible while developing your customer base.
Since you want to start a service company, use technology as much as possible to keep your payroll expenses low.
Focus your marketing on your credentials, confidentiality, quality and personal attention. In the early days, while your experience is not impressive, you may have to lower your fees while you gain experience.
Once you get a little more established, you can raise your rates. The old customers will understand, and the new ones won't know. But also emphasize that you guarantee quality and timeliness - and then deliver on that guarantee.
