Telecommuting, or teleworking, describe an employment arrangement where the employee's home becomes a base for working, rather than having the employee report to the employer's place of business each day.

Certain predetermined work activities may be effectively performed by an employee working from his or her home, thus avoiding the need to commute to the employer's facility.
