Trademark ownership termQuestion How long does trademark protection last?
Answer The ownership term for a trademark is indefinite as long as you continue to use it in connection with your goods or services and file all necessary documentation with the government (USPTO) at the appropriate times.
In general, the owner of a registration must periodically file: - Affidavits of Continued Use or Excusable Nonuse under 15 U.S.C. §1058; and - Applications for Renewal under 15 U.S.C. §1059.
