What to look for in a candidateQuestion How can I find just what I need in a job candidate?
Answer There are many sophisticated elements you can employ to do a comprehensive search and hiring process, but here are a couple of simple ones.
Be sure to begin you research by looking inside the company. Promoting from within is an excellent moral booster for everyone. If appropriate, ask a subordinate who knows your company and the skills and qualities you need to help with the interview. When you find the right candidate, consider hiring him or her with a 90 day probationary period, where either party can end the relationship without hard feelings. Use the trial period as you might an audition. That's often the best way to evaluate whether a candidate's skills, intelligence, willingness to learn, team play and chemistry are a fit with your organization.
