Word-of-mouth strategy

How can networking help me develop a word-of-mouth marketing strategy? 
Exercise these networking skills to develop a strong word-of-mouth-based business:

- Work on visibility, credibility and profitability. Participate in community events and other venues to make yourself visible in the marketplace. Visibility leads to credibility which leads to quality referrals.

- Think laser, not shotgun. Focus on your top two or three areas of expertise. Communicate exactly what type of client you’re looking for.

- Hold one-on-ones. Take turns with your referral source discussing each other's goals, achievements, interests, networks and successes of for a stronger networking relationship.
