Working capital definition

Working capital is made up of a combination of several current assets, such as cash, inventory, and accounts receivable, and is used to identify a business' liquidity condition. The working capital number is calculated by subtracting current liabilities from current assets.

Working capital represents the cash or assets that can be easily converted into cash, that are used to pay accounts payable, payroll and generally fund the business day-to-day.
